I can't add a new Reporting Services server registration of a remote server.
I need a help.
This is the scenario:
I have installed on my machine SQLServer 2005 Developer but not reporting services because I don't have IIS.
Now there is server: W2003 + SQL Server 2005 Developer (Complete) + II6.
From the SQL Server Management Studio I can connect to the DatabaseEngine on the server but I cannot connect to Reporting Services or Integrated Services.
On particularly when I try to create a new Server Registration and I "Browse" for a server I can see only the local server!!!
Is this a systemistic, configuration issue? Some advice to solve it?
Thank you in advance.
Marina B.
So you have Win2k3 + SQL 2005 Dev edition (SQL engine & RS) + IIS6, correct? Is RS and SQL installed on the same machine? I am still not very clear about your issue. How did you try to connect and what was the error?|||
Hi,
thank you for the answer.
Yes RS and SQL are installed on the same machine (I mean the brand new W2003 server)...
At the end I was able to solve the problem enabling the SQL server Agent and Browser!!
Thank you
Marina B.

I can see an IIS Server but connot see as SQL Server on same PC thru ODBC. Why?
ftp://MY_IIS_SERVER
but I cannot see an SQL Server 7.0 database on that same remmote PC. In other words, I cannot manually set up a Data Source Name for that SQL Server.
This happens only on WIN NT 4.0 boxes.First from your workstation can you ping MY_IIS_SERVER, if so then check that you have TCP/IP enabled using the 'Client Network Utility' that comes with SQL Server.
If you can not ping MY_IIS_SERVER, can you ping the IP address, xxx.xxx.xxx. If so then again make sure TCP/IP is enabled and then do 1 of 2.
1) Add an entry in LMHOST for MY_IIS_SERVER xxx.xxx.xxx
or
2) Use SQL Server Client Network Utility and add an alias to MY_IIS_SERVER

I broke reporting services (SQL Svr 2005)
Win 2003 test system. Now I can't get reporting services to work. Any
ideas for a fix?I would assume you need to re-install RS.

I am also getting: Login failed for user (null). Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL
I am accessing data using data access pages in IIS 7 to SQL server 2005 Authentication is failin
is there a step by step paper to get there? here is what i need to consider. I Iwill have many customers that will need their own set of records and access pages "branded for their company" each customer will have many clients. I am hosting this application on a windows 2003 server with SQL 2005 server enterprise.
I am using windows authentication, I have created a username in windows, then i added the windows user in SQL management studio in security, granted "DB Read" and "DB write" and again under the database security tab. still from the web authentication fails. i must be nissing a step or two?
I expect to set up a username for each database as i setup new customers.
There is another post that had a similar issue...the discussion there may prove to be relevant for you:

The important step is to disable Anonymous Authentication on your web server and enable Integrated Windows authentication. This will get the database request running in the context of the user making the web request (as opposed to the context of the default anonymous account).
Note that for data security/privacy reasons, you will probably want to avoid having clients from different companies, etc. sharing the same database and/or tables.
