This will be my first post in the forum since a long time ago sorry if
this was asked before but ... what is your experience/recommendations
about using Hyperthreading on SQL 2000 and Win 2003? Any thoughts?
Thanks for your help,
PabloTake a look at the following document in Microsoft's web site:

Thanks a lot ... good stuff|||Carlos Eduardo Rojas wrote:

Thanks a lot, but will be useful to have something more technical ...
like how it performs in terms of performance enhancement, and if it
always recommendable to use HT or if in some situation is better to
turn it off (i.e. because cache level 1 contention)
Thanks again|||There is no document as such that I have seen. It really depends a LOT on
your particular situation. How you use the data, what type of queries, how
much activity etc. etc. The bottom line is you would have to test it under
your specific conditions to see how well it will perform.

here's what we see so far
HP DL580s = 4 phys CPU -- W2KAS with SQL2KEE sees 8 proccessors
HP DL760 == 8 phys CPU -- Win 2003 Enterprise server -- only sees 8
processor as does SQL2K EE
I was expected the DL760 with win 2003 Ent with SQL2000 EE to see 16 CPU --
but it does not
HTT is enable in the bios
anyone know with this is the expected result

I think this is due to the fact Win2003 EE will only support 8 processors.
Have a look at these:

Win2K. If it is, then it will only see 8 processors.
