I got error when installing MSDE

I got a message when I type in :
setup SAPWD=abc SECURITYCODE=SQL
and setup the MSDE, there is an error said
"Unable to determine system default collatution."
What can I do?

I think you cannot use abc, password, or anything that easy as pwd.

I cann't uninstall SQL Server , and cann't re-install

While I unistall ,it showmesage "Unable to locate
installation log file 'c:\MSSQL7\Uninst.isu'.
Uninstallation will not continue.
then I try re-install SQL Server 2K , 7.0 , or MSDE , or
personal Edition , they all cann't be intalled .

YOu need do have a look in the WIndows event log or in the log files of SQL Server mentioned. There is a problem starting the service, the message that you provided is just a generic one which doesn′t tell the specific error.

|||I can find nothing useful in the Windows event log and I guess I do not understand where the sql server log files are.|||For me its located in here:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.4\MSSQL\LOG

Could be something different for you depending on your installation.

|||What service account are you using for the service. It could be that the service account used doesn′t have the appropiate permissions to start up SQL Server. Change that (e.g. to Local System) and see if a manual startup comes up successfull.

I am unable to access Analysis Server with AMO

Hi All,

I developed one web service,Here i am making connection to the Analysis Server and working on Database,cubes,partitions.when i deploy this code it is failing to run and it is throwing error like."object reference not set to an instance of the object",so i added Impersonate = true code in my web service config file then it is working fine.

( am expecting My Analysis Server is not allowing to create object ,how to handle this)

But what i want is it should work with out providing Impersonate in config.

Help is needed it is very urgent.

You code has to run under the priviledges of some sort of account. There are only 3 possible configurations that I can think of.

1. Setup an account in the application pool (if using IIS6)

2. Set a fixed account using the <identity impersonate="true" userName="..." password="..." /> tag in the web.config

3. Set the current client account to be impersonated using <identity impersonate="true" /> in the web.config

Note that 3) will only work if the web service and SSAS are on the same machine, or if you have Kerberos configured. Otherwise the user credentials will not pass from client to Web server to SSAS server.
